Original and attractive red leather family Bible with great illustrated maps, plates and more throughout, most notably with multiple pages of handwritten and detailed family history the Reamer family of Bedford, PA.

Starting with Christian Reamer, who was a tavern owner, as well as a slave holder. Two of his sons served in the Civil War both are written in ledger, one (Henry Clay Reamer, druggist and Penna Volunteer, born 1833) being the recipient upon Christian's death, and proceeding to detail his family with married surname King (wife was Christine King, daughter of Alexander King, a druggist and forge owner, and son of Rev War Vet as well). Christian's other son was Francis, who was a surgeon the Penna Vols as well in the Rebellion: He is listed in the Bible.

Rebacked but original red leather spine cover with gilt titling and adornments, with decorative gilt borders to leather boards as well. Bible scuffed and rubbed at the edge of anterior extremities but hinges and joints firm, as well as reinforced with rebacking, new pastedowns and endpapers, nicely done. Illustrated profusely with plates and maps, and appendixes with a Concordance (separate title page dated 1829) and a Psalms of David. Pages with some staining, browning and expected lighter wear from use. This Bible has Pages of Family Records includes a 1700s Slave Owner (who was the son of a Revolutionary War Vet). Two Civil War Soldiers (one a surgeon), and records from 1774 to 1920s in Bedford, PA. Lots of Research on them.
