Camp near Chickahominy Thursday June 6th, 1862. We then fell back but were soon brought back on to the battlefieldagain which we did.

It was growing still hotter than when we left but we got in and played on them again for a short time and it is said we done terrible execution but were not supported by the infantry and we had to retreat again. We have been sent back near the Chickahominy Creek to rest up, the whole division has been sent here. I tell you we feel as though we needed some recruiting before we go any further. Letter cover D S Thomson Esq, Brushland Del Cty NY, Which is now Bovina NY where Henry S Murray is buried.

Residence was not listed; 25 years old. Enlisted on 9/26/1861 at Andes, NY as a Corporal.

On 10/30/1861 he mustered into NY 8th Light Artillery. He was Mustered Out on 6/30/1865 at Norfolk, VA. Buried: Bovina, Delaware County, NY.
