An original Civil War Pass issued at HQ Fifth Army Corp, Army of the Potomac by AAG George B Halsted by order of Major General Griffin May 20, 1865 permitting Dare & 1 hospital attendant to pass to Washington on business. Comes w Dare's service info- Dare, a 118th Pennsylvania Volunteer was promoted to Hospital Steward in 1862, serving as steward to the end of the War. 1p 5 x 4: ptd/ink. Age statins, minor edge wear, Overall VG.

The Pass signer, Captain George Blight Halsted of New Jersey served as aide to General Phil Kearny, and in battles incl Cedar Mountain where he was captured and spent time as a POW at Libby Prison. He and his brother were notable Minnesota Veterans. NOTE: Any repair to a paper item is listed. I use only museum curator approved archival repair tape.
